Community Compost Hub

Although Earth Day at Rosewood was postponed, The Messenger Mountain News is still on track to raise funds for the reason for the event: The Compost Hub that is being installed at the Community Center on Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m., and the resulting Topanga Gold soil.

The community is invited to come and help with the build, or just watch, and attend the workshop led by Michael Martinez of LA Compost, the organization installing the bins. Once LA Compost is assured that the community can maintain the hub on its own, donations will go to hiring a local manager and any expenses that may arise in the future.

The hub will accept only kitchen food waste (no meat or bones). When it turns into Topanga Gold, it will be used for TCC’s children’s garden, with the excess made available to the community.
