Oak Care Event – Rodeo Grounds
August 3 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains will be holding an oak care event at the Rodeo Grounds in Topanga! Volunteers will be asked to help the RCDSMM care for previously planted oaks by watering, weeding, and mulching trees as well as potentially planting new acorns to replace those trees that may have died. Volunteers will also collect meaningful data to aid in an ongoing reforestation experiment the RCDSMM has been conducting since 2016.
Please be sure to wear durable shoes (NO FLIP FLOPS), bring clothes you are willing to get dirty in, wear ample sunscreen, bring a reusable water bottle and dress in layers, as California weather can be unpredictable!
If you would like to RSVP to this event please do so on this website, email the RCDSMM’s Watershed Stewards Program Member, Angelica Kahler at firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit our Facebook Page!
The Rodeo Grounds are located at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Topanga Canyon Blvd. If you are headed northbound on PCH turn right onto Topanga Canyon (if you are headed southbound turn left onto Topanga Canyon Blvd), the yellow gates of the park will be located on the left in 450ft. Park anywhere along Topanga Canyon Blvd and walk into the park. RCD staff will be there to help you sign-in and get ready for the planting!
