Keep California Progressive

In every Assembly District in California, over two weekends in January, elections are held that will determine the future of the California Democratic Party.

These elections decide the delegates to the California Democratic Party Central Committee and Executive Board who will write the platform, pass resolutions on policies, and endorse statewide candidates. By electing progressive delegates, we have moved the California Democratic Party toward the progressive policies most Topangans support.

The election for our Assembly District 50 delegates is being held on January 27 at Santa Monica College. There is a slate of progressive candidates but there is also a slate of moderate candidates, so it is critical that Topangans show up and make sure the progressive slate wins. We know the moderates will be out in force; they are from the more densely populated areas of our AD, so Topangans must show up in force. Californians must lead the way to Medicare for All, Green New Deal, and more. When California speaks the country listens.

Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains (PDSMM) (Topanga’s local Democratic club), along with Progressive Democrats of America, California (PDA-CA), supports the following candidates: Sue Himmelrich (For Executive Board); Jennifer Barrazza (Mendoza); Erica Ferestein; Anastasia Foster; Isabel Storey; Caroline Torosis; Marcy Winograd; Kevin McKeown; Sion Roy; Joh Katz; Andrew Bouley; Chris Bowen; Domi Piturro; and Derek Devermont.

Since 2005, Susie Shannon has been compiling these slates with the help of progressives in every Assembly District in California. They have made a difference and, with our votes, will continue to do so.

Doors open at 9 a.m. Vote any time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. You must be in line by 1 p.m.  to vote.
