What A Joy!

I always look forward to each new issue of the Messenger Mountain News. Generally, first I skim through the articles and then come back to what catches my interest most. But every time I come to “My Corner of the Canyon,” I stop and go, “Oh goody!” Then I read the whole column through, then and there. Would you call it a slice of life, or is it just all of life itself? After all, information about what is going on is nothing compared to the experience of living through life’s events. To have Kathie stop and digest “the power of taking hold of experience, of turning it round, slowly in the light,” as Virginia Wolfe said, “adds the supreme flavor to existence.” And then to share it with us in her fine writing style…what a joy! Thank you, Kathie, keep it up!

The EMF Boogyman

Comment re: “5G Free Topanga and Beyond Strategizes a Stop to 5G Proliferation,” (July 26, 2019, Vol. 3, No. 15)

Dear Editor,

OMG! Fearmongers also claim the measles vaccination causes autism and the moon landing was faked. Unless you are living 24 hours every day less than 18 inches [away from] a cell tower transmitter, you have nothing to worry about. You get much more boogyman “EMF radiation” from your battery-operated wristwatch or hearing aid, and millions of times more from the sun. Buy a mechanical watch and wear long sleeves, a hat, and sunscreen. I remember many decades ago when I was in high school the very same scary claims were made about microwave ovens; now we can’t live without them. And Henry Ford’s Model T cars scared horses, now we all drive one.

Here’s a good BBC Reality Check: bbc.com/news/world-europe-48616174.

Comments re: “A Bit About Bees…,” (July 26, 2019, Vol. 3, No. 15)

I learned a lot about bees from this insightful and well-written article. I love Kait’s “voice” as a writer, and I look forward to seeing more of her work.

Great article. I have California poppies in my yard and the bees seem to like those. It’s really disturbing that the Trump administration has both legalized the use of pesticides that are harmful to bees as well as shutting down scientific studies about bees.
