One-Day Photo Shoot of Shelter Pets a Success

The first ever “Seen = Saved Adoption Event,” a collaborative project between LA County Animal Care Centers (animalcare.lacounty.gov), Shelter Me (sheltermepets.com), and HeARTspeak (heartsspeak.org),  brought together 200 photographers from around the country to give exposure to all the shelter pets that are available for adoption.

More than 1,200 shelter pets at the seven LA County Animal Care Centers were ready for their close-ups on Saturday, July 13, when photographers created profiles of every pet with photos, videos and a personal bio and posted them on SeenEqualsSaved.com. Of those, 304 animals were adopted: 137 dogs, 154 cats and 13 rabbits and horses.

Thanks to generous support from The Petco Foundation and BOBS from Skechers, adoption fees were waived.

LA County Animal Care and Control is the largest animal control agency in the country, taking in more than 70,000 animals each year at seven animal care centers.

The LA County Animal Care Center closest to Topanga is the Agoura Animal Care Center, 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura, CA 91301.

The West Valley branch of LA City Animal Services, also a no-kill shelter, is located at 20655 Plummer Street, Chatsworth, CA 91311.
