POPSK8 Outdoor Roller Rink Opens at Westfield, June 1

For the month of June, POPSK8, California’s first themed pop-up outdoor roller-skating rink will open on Saturday, June 1, at Westfield Woodland Hills.

Open daily, POPSK8, a full-service outdoor roller rink created and produced by Ann Potenza, is meant to be an immersive experience, featuring a mix of classic songs from a themed time frame, sprinkled with current tunes and movie scores from the same period.

Swing-Time Mondays (1940s and ‘50s), Groovy Tuesdays (‘60s), Disco Wednesdays (‘70s), I Want my MTV Thursdays (‘80s), DJ Mega Mix Fridays and Saturdays (‘90s-Y2K), and Show-Tune Sundays (musicals), make up a diverse program.

Each day, patrons will be encouraged to participate in contests, games, group popsk8-a-longs, and surprise pop-up performances, all the while sharing experiences with the community through #popsk8live.

“Classics never go out of style,” said Potenza. “Our goal is to have everyone fall in love with roller-skating. We have taken a much-loved activity, added some of our own special sugar and spice for a modern twist and bring it to a new generation. It is the perfect place to hang out with friends and family.”

POPSK8 will be open Monday through Thursday, 2-10 p.m.; Friday 2 p.m.–midnight; Saturday, noon–midnight; and Sunday, noon–10 p.m. Admission is $15 per person for all-day wristbands and includes quad skates, although patrons can bring their own quad or inline skates.

Non-skating patrons can still participate in certain activities. No charge for children under three with non-skating guardian. A variety of discounts will be available throughout the season and tickets are  available for pre-purchase.

Private cabanas will be available to rent for special occasions: birthday parties, family reunions, friends’ night out, school functions, and corporate events.
