The Messenger Mountain News is encouraging everyone in the community to consider starting the new year with a resolution to volunteer. Many of Topanga’s essential community services depend on volunteers. We had an all too frightening reminder of how important those volunteer services can be during the Woolsey Fire, when TCEP (Topanga Coalition for Emergency Preparedness) volunteers worked to get the word out about the mandatory evacuation but all year long, community members work behind the scenes to provide support for seniors, school children, animals, parks, the environment, everything that makes Topanga and the Santa Monica Mountains special.
Volunteering can be an occasional or routine commitment, but it’s one that is increasingly essential.
