Beginning April 1, 2020 all regularly scheduled Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission meetings will convene as virtual (online) meetings and by teleconference until further notice.
Members of the public will be able to observe the meetings and provide comment via Zoom. Webinar links and phone numbers will be provided on our website prior to each meeting.
The meetings will also be broadcast live on Facebook at facebook.com/LACDRP and on YouTube. However, public comments for the record must be provided only through Zoom during the broadcast or before the meeting by sending an email to comment@planning.lacounty.gov or by calling (213) 974-6411.
Regional Planning services remain available at http://planning.lacounty.gov, via email to zoningldcc@planning.lacounty.gov, and via phone at (213) 974-6411. Permit applications may be filed online at http://planning.lacounty.gov/apps.

The city of Malibu’s Planning Commission and City Council have also transitioned to meeting via Zoom. The first remote Planning Commission meeting was a learning experience for commissioners, staff and observers. The one member of the public who had planned to comment, but was unable to connect. The lesson from the meeting is that it is advisable to submit comments by email before attempting to take part in an online meeting.

Building and construction are designated as essential services under the state’s coronavirus policies, and the county and cities throughout the Santa Monica Mountains are prioritizing planning meetings and permit and appeal processes, but other business and the concerns overseen by other commissions and departments will eventually also have to be addressed, as local governments continue to grapple with governance in the era of social distancing.
