Additional Voting Opportunity for Seniors

The Canyon Sages, in conjunction with the LA County Office of the Registrar, is offering a one-time opportunity to vote on February 25th, 2020 in the Sages Room at the Topanga Community Center for the upcoming election.

This additional day, Tuesday, February 25, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., has been set aside for seniors who would like extra support understanding and using the new voting machines. In light of the new method of casting ballots electronically using a touch screen, volunteers will be on hand to assist those who would like help.

All voters, including seniors, can also vote at the Topanga Library or other voting centers throughout the county, from February 22 through March 3. People can still vote by mail as well, although the Topanga Library has a locked ballot box for those who want to deposit their mail-in ballots there.

SEEKING VOLUNTEER DRIVERS

There are many older seniors living in Topanga who can no longer drive. It is one of the Sages’ primary missions to help seniors stay in their homes as long as they can. For that reason, SAGES is compiling a list of drivers who can take seniors to activities in and around the canyon. If you have limited availability, simply let us know what hours and days are usually best for you.

If you would like to volunteer to take seniors to the polls or become a regular volunteer driver, please contact Michele Johnson at gmsjohnson2002@yahoo.com.
