The Canyon Sages are introducing two new classes at the Topanga Community Center beginning September 11, “Writing Your Memoir, and “Watercolor Painting,” taught by Mary Crescenzo, a Master Teaching Artist specializing in arts exploration with older adults.
Writing Your Memoir—Everyone has a story, whether for publication or as a record for
your family. This class provides various writing techniques and exercises, and the skills, motivation, and inspiration you’ll need to get started, get structured, and enjoy the process while reflecting on your unique journey. Editing and constructive criticism is also explored and there will be a reading of portions of students’ work open to invited guests and the public on the last day of class. Students must provide their own supplies: Pens: one red, one black or blue, and a large writing pad.
Classes are held Tuesdays, 10-11 a.m., from September 11-November 20 (no class on election day, November 6). Cost: $60 for 10 weeks, due on the first day of class.
Watercolor Class—Learn the techniques of watercolor painting or brush up on skills you may already have but would like to further explore. Have fun in a relaxed environment with others who share an interest in this visual medium. Included is an informal exhibit of the works open to invited guests and the public on the last day of class. Students must provide their own supplies; a simple list will be sent to all registered students.
Classes are held Tuesdays, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., September 11-November 20 (no class election day, November 6). Cost: $150 for 10 weeks, due first day of class.
