Electric Bikes Banned from State Parks

The Los Angeles Department of Parks Recreation has posted an order closing parklands to electric assisted or propelled bicycles (e-bikes) as an “emergent technology generally inconsistent with the park experience that may have negative impacts on the unique trail and backcountry experiences and regional wildlife found within and operated by the Angeles District.

Exemptions may be granted as necessary for proper administration of the park and to protect the safety and welfare of its visitors, employees, wildlife and resources. All exemptions must be obtained in writing.

The order shall remain in effect until the adoption of e-bike regulations by the Department of Parks and Recreation.
