“This is our first such guest for the new monthly Monday Morning Gardentime, where we will host local artists, musicians, foodies and storytellers as a way to enhance community connections,” says master gardener Carolyn Day, who created the Children’s Organic Garden.
“When I started the garden, I thought it was a place just to grow food. As the garden grew, I saw that it has a special place in our community. Different from Mommy & Me or the playground this is helps new moms meet others, share in their stresses and tricks. Despite what some people think of stay-at-home moms, they are such an important part of knitting together a community.”
Blignaut is a Topanga resident from South Africa, who is, among other talents, a magical French teacher. She teaches the French language through Art and Storytelling, emphasizing the magic and wonder of life. “My focus is on creating beautiful childhood memories,” she says. “We have tea-time at every class, and I often offer home-made baked goodies. We work from the French coloring-in style books I lovingly create, do art with a French theme, do French theatre and watch French cartoons and little films. We follow high standards, where everyone is required to assimilate the information presented to them before the next class.”
