In Los Angeles, hundreds marched from Pershing Square to City Hall on President’s Day, in one of the nation’s 29 “Not My President’s Day” rallies that were staged in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia and more than two dozen other cities across the nation. Among them were the Topanga Peace Alliance (TPA), a secular, nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting peace and justice on a local and global level.
The idea for the Presidents’ Day protests originated in Los Angeles, where, according to organizers, about 4,300 people had said on Facebook they would attend the City Hall rally and that it spread to other locales via social media.
The next First Friday Film Night will present “Disturbing the Peace, on March 3, 7 p.m.
