Strictly Poetry Workshop Series

The City of Malibu begins the 2020 Strictly Poetry Workshops on January 18, a series that continues on March 21 and May 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Michael Landon Center at Malibu Bluffs Park, 24250 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265.

The workshops are complimentary programs open to poetry lovers and poets of all levels. Writers will work with Malibu Poet Laureate Ellen Reich and their peers for guidance, review, support, and discussion of completed poems and works in progress. Writers will have the opportunity to learn and grow as poets in an encouraging and inspiring setting.

Ellen Reich has been a practicing, accomplished poet for many years and was appointed as the Malibu Poet Laureate in March 2019. Reich currently teaches creative writing and autobiography in Malibu for Emeritus College, a division of Santa Monica College, and has had numerous poems and stories published in The Los Angeles Times, Slant, Mudfish, Slipstream, ACM, Coe Review and more. Reich has also received multiple writing awards and was nominated for Pushcart Prizes in 2008 and 2009. The Pushcart Prize is an American literary prize published by Pushcart Press that honors the best “poetry, short fiction, essays, or literary whatnot” published in the small presses over the previous year.
