This is dust and ash from the Woolsey Fire during 50 mph winds generated by the recent Santa Ana conditions. These photos were taken in Malibu from Point Dume, looking towards Escondido and Latigo Canyons and they are an extreme example of the air quality issues involved in the aftermath of the fire. All residents of the Santa Monica Mountains should be aware of the potentially increased risks of respiratory issues until the ash settles.
