The Topanga Chamber of Commerce is introducing Shop Topanga, a new campaign to help give local businesses a boost.
“Many of our members have been battered by frequent road closures, confusing Caltrans signs, and evacuations,” an announcement for the new program states. “Now it’s time to fight back and regain some of that lost business.”
On the first Saturday of the month, from August 3 to December 7, participating local businesses will schedule something fun and extra, from 1 pm to 5 pm. Suggestions include serving food and drink, having live music, creating special discounts, or hosting a sidewalk sale. Each business will choose how they want to participate. The Chamber hopes that the mix or extra events will create an enticing attraction for customers.
The Chamber will give each participating business a “Shop Topanga” window decal and help spread the word through social media, signs and posters, announcements.
“We want to help our stores get more customers, both local shoppers and people from outside Topanga,” the announcement says. “Help spread the word, and if you are a business owner, let us know what you will be doing to participate. We’ll let you know how you can get your ‘Shop Topanga’ decal.”
