Citizen of the Year

Colin Kaepernick GQ Magazine’s Citizen of the Year risked everything because he took a knee to protest police brutality. He follows in the footsteps of sports greats Jackie Robinson and Muhammed Ali who was locked out of his sport (for three years) for taking a stand against the Vietnam War. Kaepernick persists in taking back the narrative of his gesture, co-opted “by a president eager to make this moment about himself.” Read the cover article, “Men of the Year, The New American Heroes” at GQ.com.
