Easter Bunny at Large

Topanga’s own Easter Bunny lifted spirits and helped bring the community together (at a safe distance), with help from the Topanga Community Center. Photos by Aleza Hyatt

There were no family get-togethers this Easter, no public church services, no community egg hunts, not even picnics in the park, but nothing, not even coronavirus, could keep the Easter Bunny from coming to Topanga to spread good cheer.

With a little help from the Topanga Community Center, this magical mythical rabbit toured Topanga, from Fernwood to Valley View, Cheney Drive to Top of Topanga. Bunny travelled in style through the canyon in the back of a pickup, ending up at Pine Tree Circle, where families had an opportunity to take a long distance photo—six feet away at the closest!

In fact, this celebrated lagomorph observed all of the required COVID-19 precautions, including a festive tie-dye face mask and a pair of blue latex gloves, in addition to social distancing.

The visit was a moment of pure Topanga magic, and a welcome reminder that, even when we have to stay apart, we can still come together as a community.

Special thanks to all the volunteers who are helping  to bring sunshine to the canyon during tough times. Visit topangacommunitycenter.org to see how you can contribute. If you missed the Easter Bunny’s visit, you still can experience it online: https://www.instagram.com/p/B-0CqiNjenX/

Bunny was careful to maintain social distancing requirements and wore a face mask in true
Topanga colors—peace signs and tie-dye.
