Our 2018-2019 rain season ended on September 30, 2019, with a flourish: .17 inches of rain was recorded here in Fernwood at the very end of the season. This concludes our season with 29.48 inches of rain, the fourth highest season total in the last 23 years since I’ve been keeping records. The El Niño/La Niña conditions are neutral right now, so they offer no guidance about what the new season that started on October 1 might bring. As you can see from the historic chart, six of the last eight years have been below our average rainfall. We can only hope the wet conditions from last season will continue. For comparison, Los Angeles received more than ten inches less of the wet stuff this last season for a season total of 18.85 inches.
