According to Caltrans, Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be closed on Friday, July 27, 10 from 10 p.m. to Monday, July 30, at 5 a.m. If required a second closure will occur on Friday August 03, starting at 10p.m.. to Monday, . August 06, at 5 a.m.
Work crews will install new steel netting at post mile 1.2, to restore the failing embankment along Topanga Creek. Crews will grade the hillside to bring down loose material, which they will stockpile close to the job site to use as fill between the rocks. Proper installation of the silt fencing, gravel bags, etc., may be inhibited by heavy foliage, and tree trimming may have to be performed beforehand or concurrently. This would be under the supervision of Caltrans’ certified arborist with the goal of saving as many trees as possible.
Willow cuttings will be collected concurrently and placed in water-filled plastic barrels and stored with Rosi Dagit at the Resource Conservation District office in Topanga.
