Celebrate the winter solstice at Topanga Rocks on December 19, 6-9 p.m.,with prosecco, light snacks, and an art show curated by Misty Dawn Lawrence. Bring an appetite because Adriana Lemus, owner of La Chingona Tacos, will be serving her Guatemalan vegan, vegetarian, meat, and seafood tacos and all the fixings.

Saroush Payandeh is a Los Angeles-based Iranian artist and public art restorer who has worked on more than 30 public art projects throughout the world. He was honored by the United Nations in 2015 as the Humanitarian Artist of the Year for his portraits of Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Mother Teresa. He will be sharing paintings by his brother and sister who live in Iran.
Jorge Ramirez is a native South American from Peru who grew up in the Amazon rainforest (La Selva). His visionary paintings in the Amazonian art style are exhibited in many international museums and galleries.
Katie Schwipper spent seven years abroad doing art therapy with children emerging from profound trauma. Her paintings explore the balance between sweetness and the sinister. Recently, she has been perfecting the art of soap-making through Topanga Soap Works. Visitors will be hard-pressed to resist these beautiful, functional art pieces.
Marie Starr’s love of geode gems is reflected in her costume jewelry that she embeds into hardwood, sealed with colorful resin.
Zia Ray’s custom mandala paintings emit an energetic signature and portal used to activated and energize physical or internal space.
Misty Dawn Lawrence is an artist/singer-songwriter and long-time Topanga resident who is passionate about art and providing artists a place to share in a supportive environment. She curates a rotating art exhibit at Topanga Rocks.
