The Topanga Chamber of Commerce and the Topanga Library have started an ongoing food and clothing drive to aid the less fortunate. Canned goods and a variety of other food options are desirable, as well as like-new clothing.
As this is an ongoing project, Community Library Manager Oleg Kagan suggests that Topangans make buying an extra can, package of pasta, or jar of peanut butter part of their regular shopping routine. “If each person just brought a single food item a week, it could feed a lot of people,” he says.
Donations can be dropped off in the copy room of the library during open hours.
Donated food is going to the West Valley Food Pantry whose service area stretches across the San Fernando Valley and includes Topanga. Clothing will be distributed locally by the Chamber of Commerce, with the balance going to the Family Rescue Center.
