On January 11, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Congressman Ted Lieu, and Caltrans officials attended a groundbreaking photo op to announce restoration of the bridge on Mulholland Highway in the Cornell community, one of three bridges damaged or destroyed by the November 2018 Woolsey Fire.
“It was a truly joyful rededication ceremony,” Kuehl said. The permanent replacement is expected to be completed in October 2020.
In the past, the supervisor said, “Funding commitments to rebuild often took years to secure, but working with Congressman Ted Lieu, Caltrans, and the Federal Highway Administration, we were able to get the needed funding in record time. By fast-tracking reconstruction of this bridge, we continue our deep commitment to the communities affected by the Woolsey Fire.
“My sincere thanks to Congressman Lieu, CalTran’s District Director John Bulinski, and LA County Public Works Director Mark Pestrella for helping to move this project forward in record time,” said Kuehl.
