Thirty to 40 people braved the fierce 110-degree temperatures on Sunday, June 25, to support Cousin Kate and the Lesbian and Gay Psychotherapy Association in the second concert and first fundraiser held at the newly-opened SunMoon Retreat Center on Cheney Drive. The event was one of several throughout 2017 to mark the 25th anniversary of LAGPA, an LA-based organization for LGBT psychotherapists and allies that serves the gay community.
Mary Guillermin, owner and host, said, “The sun blazed all day and it was very warm even under the oaks in the Sun Temple, but we alternated between enjoying the concert and escaping into the cool indoors to get refreshments and enjoy my SunMoon card readings.”
Identical twin vocalists, Isabelle and Corinna Cott, exhibited their colorful art on the fences of the Sun Temple and offered original works and prints for sale.
The melodies and harmonies of the songs were accompanied by guitarist Brian Florian, who gave a debut performance with his new band, Sweven. Cousin Kate created a special Summer 2017 edition CD especially for the concertgoers that combined a few favorites with new songs not yet released.
Guillermin will be hosting regular Full Moon Gatherings for women beginning on the actual night of the full moon. Details can be found on Meetup.com along with her new group, “WonderWoman’s Island Society Recreated.”
Guillermin’s ambition is to host other events such as art shows and offers the use of the Sun Temple free to interested artists.
