Topanga Actors Company presents The Nether, October 28-29

Topanga Actors Company (TAC) begins its third season with a staged reading of The Nether on Saturday and Sunday, October 28-29, as it continues to bring modern theater works to the Topanga community.

Where is the line that separates a free imagination and a crime? Is there such a thing as action with no consequence, even in a so-called virtual world? Do depraved acts constitute crimes, if they’re solely online fantasies?

In a bow to the spirit of Halloween, The Nether, by American writer, Jennifer Haley, is part procedural cop thriller and part evocation of the darker side of the internet. It is set in a dystopian future in which many people spend much of their lives on a now regulated internet known as The Nether. It is creepy, fascinating and provocative. Haley is interested in the ethics of technology and the questions she poses in this play will have you talking to each other.

TAC is proud to announce its cast, drawn from the local Topanga treasure chest of talent. Stephen Hoye, Catherine McClenahan, Micah Dyer, Bill Pierce and Linda Molnar bring this intricate tale to life.

Performances start at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, October 29, in the Topanga Library, located at 122 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, CA 90290. For more information: (310) 455-3480.
