The newly renovated Topanga Canyon Gallery (TCG) is hosting an exhibit by Collage Artists of America, “A Little Bit of Madness,” January 31–February 18.
This promises to be a fun and interesting show of some of the best collage art in the country. Juried by Melinda Smith Altshuler, this show has fun, provocation and color from some of the most extraordinary things. Ms. Altshuler is herself an accomplished artist with more than 30 years of shows and installations of her compelling work. The exhibit is open to the public for viewing and art purchases.
From February 20–25, Topanga Elementary School Children’s Art Show will follow with a fun show and fundraiser to support Topanga Elementary Charter School’s enrichment program (TEP). Every year Topanga Canyon Gallery donates space to the parents and teachers of Topanga Elementary who work to put together this show presenting the talent and creativity of the children in Topanga.
March, April and May have a series of impressive, stimulating shows: “Pigments of our Imagination,” “Changes,” and “Women at Work.” Check our website for dates and times.

While it seems a long way away, Topanga Canyon Gallery is gearing up for the Annual Studio Tour, June 2-3. Be sure to mark your calendar for this one-of-a-kind tour of local artists when they open their Topanga studios to the public. It is a great weekend to explore Topanga, get off the main drag, see spectacular views, and enjoy a weekend of art. Meet the artists on their own turf for a first-hand look at where and sometimes, how it’s made. Ceramics, painting, glass, photography, silk painting, jewelry from more than 40 artists will be shown at about 20 locations in the Canyon and are available for purchase.
Local non-member artists are also invited to participate in this year’s tour. The application is available online.
