5G Free Topanga and Beyond Strategizes a Stop to 5G Proliferation

The Topanga Peace Alliance (TPA) hosted a meeting on July 11 to address concerns about wireless proliferation and hear a presentation by attorney Dafna Tachover of We Are the Evidence (WATE) about the dangers of 5G expansion.

More than 50 people squeezed into TPA president Julie Levine’s living room to hear the presentation and begin planning strategies around their new movement, “5G Free Topanga and Beyond.”

According to Levine, TPA began organizing “5G Free Topanga and Beyond” eight months ago “in an effort to stop what is now a global rollout of 5G wireless infrastructure, based on health and privacy concerns.”

In a statement by the new organization, “an estimated 15 percent of the population was affected by electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS)  when tested in 2004.” Levine explained that she is electro-sensitive. In a show of hands at the meeting, 48 of the 52 people attending also indicated that they have symptoms.

In her presentation, Tachover, explained 5G technology and discussed evidence of harm from wireless and 5G, as well as current legislation and advocacy efforts, and strategies for action.

“The level of radiation is 30 times higher than it was 30 years ago,” Tachover said. “We are electric beings. The evidence is there and conclusive.”

Tachover noted that recent studies done by the National Institute of Health/National Toxicology Program and replicated by Italy’s Ramazzani Institute, “show clear evidence of links to seven types of cancer from 3G, the last technology tested.”

Tachover said that 5G has not yet been tested and produces 500 times more radiation than 4G. 5G also requires small cell towers every 200 feet to transmit data and bandwidth faster, and 20,000 satellites, “blanketing the planet in radiation,” Tachover said.

“There are over 2,000 scientific studies showing links between microwave pulse radiation and a host of health problems including cancers,” Tachover stated. “It’s not about people. This is the final piece in a surveillance grid known as the Internet of Things (IOT). “In a 1975 Navy mouse study, scientists showed the blood-brain barrier is broken by microwaves, but since the U.S. has commercialized cell technology, it has stopped the studies.”

The elephant in the room, Tachover said, is Section 704 of the FCC Telecommunications Act of 1996 for its failure to address health concerns as the population becomes sicker.

“The wireless industry found there is nothing more a cell phone can do for you. They collect your data and sell it for AI that feeds into facial recognition software,” said Tachover. “1984 is kids play compared to [5G].”

STRATEGIES TO COMBAT 5G PROLIFERATION

“We will be planning a campaign around Section 704 linked to a growing mass grassroots movement accompanied by legal action,” Levine said, as the evening turned into a strategy planning session.

In the short time TPA has been organizing 5G Free Topanga and Beyond, it has assembled an impressive coalition that Levine says consists “of hundreds of people working with other efforts in neighboring cities representing thousands.” Among these are Stop 5G groups in Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Chatsworth, Santa Barbara, Ojai, Westlake, Camarillo, Ventura, and Boyle Heights.

“We are also part of the national network 5G Crisis and are working with WorldShift Stop 5G Internationally,” Levine said.

Other organizing efforts include:

  • Meeting with staff at elected officials’ offices and have launched a “Click to Call” petition addressed to elected officials and build public sentiment against the rollout.
  • Putting pressure on California Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Javier Becerra to address the issue.
  • Organizing to challenge the constitutionality of Section 704 of the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996, which takes away local authority and public input into siting this infrastructure, and prohibits challenges based on environmental concerns that has been interpreted to include health concerns.
  • Compiled a list of hundreds of electro-sensitive people who would welcome being a part of a class action suit. A recent National Law Review entry addresses the health impacts of 5G.

CURRENT LEGISLATION

On June 27, Senators Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) submitted a bill, S. 2012,  restoring local control, abolishing FCC regulations regarding 5G.

On January 14, 2019, Rep. Eshoo (D-CA) submitted  a House Bill, H.R.  530 Accelerating Broadband Development by Empowering Local Communities Act of 2019, which overturns the FCC’s ruling FCC 18–111 & 83 Fed. Reg. 51867, making the scope of the Senate Bill wider and also overturns the Sept. 26 ruling FCC 18–133.

In her blog on WATE, Tachover writes that while these bills are very much welcomed they still do not address the most important issue: the health effects of this technology. “When will a Congressman introduce a bill to overturn Section 704 of the Telecommunication Act of 1996 and or to amend it to clarify that environmental considerations do not include health considerations?” she asks.

SAVE THE DATE

The next meeting is Monday, July 29, 7 p.m. at The Inn of The Seventh Ray. The wifi will be turned off. Please mark your calendars and invite concerned friends and neighbors!

  1. Thanks for covering this. We are actually a new group called 5G Free Topanga and Beyond. Our next meeting is now on July 29, 7 pm at Inn of The Seventh Ray. Please join us if you share this concern. Julie

  2. OMG, fear mongers also claim the measles vaccine causes autism and the moon landing was faked. But – unless you are living 24 hours every day less than 18 inches from a cell tower transmitter, you have nothing to worry about. You get much more boogyman “IMF radiation” from your battery operated wristwatch or hearing aid and millions of times more from the sun. Buy a mechanical watch, learn to read lips, and wear long sleeves, a hat, and sunscreen. I remember many decades ago when I was in high school the very same scary claims were made about microwave ovens; now we can’t live without them. And Henry Ford’s Model T cars scared horses, now we all drive one.
