In a world crammed with information and instant access to other people’s news, adventures, transgressions and romances, we can easily forget to relax our brains—to sit back, daydream and get lost in the stories that live in our own imaginations
Topanga Authors’ Group (TAG) invites you to make that space for yourself at Transport Topanga Literary Festival on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24 at the Topanga Library.
The festival is free and open to the public, suitable for all ages, and includes an exciting mix of storytelling in a variety of forms—written, visual, sonic and artistic.
The atmosphere at Transport, now in its second year, is welcoming and convivial. Presentations and readings (poetry and fiction) take place in the Zev Yaroslavsky Meeting Room, while stories for the young at heart are read aloud in the Children’s Story Corner.
Creative crafts keep visual imaginations engaged, while informal Q&As answer many questions about publishing, the craft of writing and more. An Open Mic welcomes everyone to read, while book-making demonstrations take place in the Study Room. Outside on the patio, music fills the air, while festival goers contribute a line or two to the Story Wall, authors and publishers sell their books, and converse about their experiences over delicious refreshments (sales support Friends of the Library).
Poet, publisher, and lifelong Topangan Pablo Capra said of Transport 2016, “the care that was given, the details…I felt like the organizers went above and beyond to make Transport beautiful and enjoyable for everyone. I really enjoyed meeting the other authors, whom I might never have met otherwise, and the sense of building community.”
Among the confirmed presenters, panelists, authors and composers to date, are: Linda Ballou, Jacqueline Berkman, Brent Blair, Pablo Capra, Eric Dugdale, Julia Fierro, David Dayan Fisher, Lisa Desimini, Robin Lithgow, Paul Lovas, Diana Mathur, Marshall McDaniel, Gail McDonald-Tune, Deena Metzger, Lauren Polly, Lisbeth Scott, Susan Shankin, Wendy Skolfield, Duncan Thum, and Cieri Torjussen.

Topanga Literary Festival is an all-volunteer effort produced by Kim Zanti and TAG in partnership with Oleg Kagan and the Topanga Library. Transport is sponsored by Friends of the Topanga Library.
Since 2014, TAG has gathered monthly at the community library, presenting an array of happenings for writers to meet, learn and exchange ideas. TAG explores writing in many forms and from multiple perspectives. After two years of bringing writers together, it was time to celebrate. In September 2016, TAG presented the first Transport Topanga Literary Festival and follows up this year with an even more eclectic, streamlined and improved festival.
