Third Fire in a Month!
The City of Malibu will host “Preparing for Fire: Malibu Residents Share Their Experiences” on Wednesday, September 11, from 6-8 p.m., at Malibu City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu CA 90265).
This panel discussion welcomes residents and others who were not directly impacted by the Woolsey Fire, to learn from the many residents who were. This is another opportunity for Topanga residents to hone their preparedness plans.
The goal of the presentation is to underscore the importance of home hardening and creating a defensible space; understanding the true gravity and nature of stay-and-defend actions; and feeling empowered to make an educated an informed decision even if that means early evacuation.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Gaining and maintaining situational awareness
- Observations on the effects of home hardening and ember control
- Observations on the effectiveness of defensible space
- Evacuation preparation
- Personal preparation
- Neighborhood preparation and cohesion
- Conditions before and after the fire front passes
- What to expect during recovery
