The annual Topanga Elementary Art Gallery show wowed a standing-room-only crowd on February 1 at the Topanga Canyon Gallery. The theme for this year’s show was “Nurturing Nature” and our talented young artists blew away patrons of art with their talent and creative uses of paint, clay, resin, dyed wool, wood, photography, and collage. So many loved and cherished forms of nature were represented including fungi, trees, galaxies, sunrises, animals, plants, and sea life. The thematic interpretations from every class (TK through fifth grade) were so incredible that the phase “how in the world did they do this” was overheard from more than a few art aficionados.
Outside the gallery, kids were able to participate in a fiber arts activity and delicious donated treats and beverages were on sale to raise money to support Topanga Enrichment Programs’ performing and visual arts (VAPA) programs at the school.
We see beautiful art being created in our school and donations are welcome: VAPA Art Supplies Drive: https://www.topangaelementary.org/visual-and-performing-arts.html
GOING FOR GOLD
Topanga Enrichment Programs’ board is preparing for TOPANGA GOLD, the 2020 Spring Gala on May 2, and partnering with Bidding for Good after the mad success of last year’s online auction component of our largest fundraising event of the year.
We’ve got lots of great contributions (thank you, early supporters) and are looking to our community to help us take this to the next level. Think big-ticket vacation packages, private chef dinners, sports tickets, movie set tours—items that will send the bids climbing sky-high—or handcrafted goods, restaurant gift cards, health/wellness services…basically, if you’ve got a business you’d like to promote or a great hook-up you’d be willing to share with the school, we’d be honored to have your contribution. Reach out to Sponsorships Chair, Sarah Gottlieb, at sponsorships@topangaelementary.org to contribute to our efforts. All contributions due April 10.
The Topanga Gold online auction will go live on April 21 to May 1, so stay tuned for the opportunity to get your bid on!
