For the second year, Topanga Canyon Gallery starts the New Year with Women Painters West’s (WPW) annual juried show, “New Beginnings.”
Founded in 1921, the non-profit membership corporation is one of the longest running art groups in California that not only supports the artistic and professional growth of its membership, but fulfills educational, benevolent, fraternal, and charitable objectives as well.
This year, WPW has chosen Edith Baumann, an American abstract painter, as the curator and juror of this show. Working from her studio in Santa Monica, Baumann has a long history in the arts in Los Angeles. She has an upcoming show at the Parrasch Heijnen Gallery and exhibits throughout California, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Germany, and Hong Kong. She is known for her abstract geometric works.
“New Beginnings” is the theme for this year’s Women Painters West juried Show. Open to the interpretation of the artist, this show has beautiful and moving works, as well as some powerful abstract paintings.
“We are thrilled to be back at Topanga Canyon Gallery and look forward to another successful show at the Gallery,” says WPW president Susie Gesundheit.
Awards and Artists’ reception will be on January 13, from 2–5 p.m. Awards will be presented at 4:30 p.m. The community is welcome.
Hours for this show: Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Closed Monday and Tuesday.
