The third annual Canyon Sages Paper Shredding Fundraiser is coming up on Saturday, April 8 (not April 1 as previously reported), from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Community House. The shredding truck is provided by Assurance Document Shredding and is a safe, secure way to dispose of sensitive personal documents like old taxes, statements, receipts, records, etc. It will be stationed next to the Community House, so plan to park on the same level near the building at 1440 N Topanga Canyon Blvd.
Businesses and individuals may bring up to 10 boxes or bags to be shredded at a time. If you have more, go to the end of the line and start again. Pack your stuff in 12” x 15” file boxes, standard grocery bags or both. If you don’t have these, the truck proprietor is expert at assessing approximate full amounts that arrive in odd-sized containers.
People will be there to assist you and coffee and goodies will be available for purchase. All proceeds go to help Topanga’s seniors.
Scholarships: The Sages just voted to set aside $500 per year for a scholarship program to allow seniors who are on a tight budget to take our classes and programs, such as a cooking class, exercise class or an outing. Contact Michele at gmsjohnson2002@yahoo.com or (310) 455-1319, to apply for a confidential scholarship.
Donations are most welcome to help support our monthly Sages Suppers and to eventually furnish our new Community House addition that will be solely dedicated to senior activities.
